PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICES OF HARM REDUCTION THERAPY

Description:  This full day training will enhance clinicians' ability to integrate harm reduction therapy into their mental health and/or substance abuse practices. Principles and models will be presented and then a series of skills building segments will follow, including:

 

  • The Role of Trauma in Substance Misuse
  • Harm Reduction Therapy in Group Work
  • Working with Families and Friends of Drug Users
  • Harm Reduction in Community-based Settings

 

Topics that will be covered in these segments include working with marginalized clients, coerced treatment, harm reduction within communities of color, ethical guidelines, private practice settings, managing our own feelings, and somatic approaches.

 

Cost (meals are not provided in the registration fee):

New Mexico residents:  $50

All others:  $80

 

Continuing Education:  Continuing education hours are available, however, a $10 fee applies.
