The 2009 International Drug Policy Reform Conference will take place in downtown Albuquerque, the economic, social and cultural center of New Mexico. Downtown features some of the best restaurants, hotels, bars and theaters in the city and is home to the Albuquerque Convention Center, one of the premier meeting facilities in the state. The Albuquerque Convention Center is located at 401 2nd Street NW, a ten minute drive from the Albuquerque International Sunport and minutes away from both interstates 25 and 40. The Convention Center is across the street from Civic Plaza and two blocks away from historic Route 66, which offers convenient access to bus service, including the D–Ride, a free shuttle that loops around downtown. Though there is a lot to see in Downtown Albuquerque, there’s more to the city for you to explore. Just a short drive from downtown is Nobhill, a district that offers unique shopping, dining and nightlife entertainment to locals and visitors alike. You can also visit Historic Old Town, Albuquerque’s first neighborhood, which boasts unique boutiques, art galleries and restaurants with plenty of New Mexican flavor. If you have time for a drive you may want to visit Albuquerque’s north valley, Los Ranchos or Corrales, home to many local wineries, farmer’s markets and spas.
